OPTIONS MARKET = PRICE PREDICTIONS? 🔮

This story was pitched by one of our NOPs (Nerds On Payroll…aka: PRO researchers). 

They actually pitch stories all the time….but here’s how we tend to react:

(It flies way over our heads).

That said, this was one of the first topics that we didn’t feel completely lost explaining: 

How to use the options market to predict crypto prices. 

But before we get into the juicy details, here’s a quick crash course on the options market (and no, this isn’t optional):

• Calls: A bet that the market will rise above a certain price (bullish)

• Puts: A bet that the market will drop below a certain price (bearish)

To really hammer this concept home, here’s an example:

Back in September, there was a large concentration of $100K Bitcoin calls (bullish) expiring on Dec 27th, 2024.  

Translation? Option traders were betting that the Bitcoin price will go past $100k by the end of 2024.

And guess what? It did. 

Now again, this method is not foolproof – but gives us a general idea of where the market is moving. 

So, let’s go and see what the options market is telling us right now. 

9 months from now (September 2025), options traders are betting that Bitcoin will go past $300,000. 

Bonkers!

Absolutely. Bonkers. 

But what about the next month or so? Will we see a huge climb?

Probably not (at least that’s what the options market is telling us). 👇

Large numbers of puts = bearish take on the market 

The exact price prediction? Bitcoin will fall below $75,000 before the end of February. 

Yikes. My heart skipped a beat just typing that out. 

But hey, let’s not forget about the $300K prediction by the end of September. 

The message the market is sending us?

We’re moving up in the long-term but expect a bunch of pullbacks along the way (aka rule #1 of the crypto bull market). 

WHICH ALTCOINS WILL GET ETFS IN 2025? 🤔

We saw some weird and wild milestones hit in 2024…

1/ The Bitcoin ETFs flipped Satoshi’s known $BTC holdings

2/ Terminal of Truth became the world’s first millionaire AI agent

3/ The memecoin sector reached a total market cap of over $110B 

The crazy part of all of this? It’s likely only going to get wilder in 2025!

Bitwise is predicting that the Bitcoin ETFs will take in more net-inflows than they did in 2024.
